The holiday season always conjures up wish lists and ideas of things we are thankful for. So we’ve decided that this would be the perfect time to start our new blog series: Our Favorite Things!
I’ve been a hardcore make-up junkie forever. Over the years I’ve tried just about every line; whether it’s a high dollar brand available only at department stores or cheap drugstore brands. I cut my teeth on the Wet n’ Wild brand. $10 in allowance could buy a plethora of shades for an 11 year old trailer park gal! My make-up collection is now a collection of cheap over-the-counter steals and name brands that I’d probably give my right leg for. It’s all about balance. Here are three of my absolute favorite must-haves!
Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer
After years of frustration over creased eye shadow and the even worse problem of the great disappearing eye shadow I was about to go nuts! I finally stumbled upon this little beauty and all my woes were over. This primer will make your shadow last 8-10 hours. No joke.
Apply a dab of this primer all over your lid and up to the brow bone. Then apply a light highlight shade over the same area. This will cover any tackiness from the primer and allow your main shades to be easily applied and blended. It comes in 4 shades so you can match your skin tone and skin type! Available at Sephora.
Loreal Voluminous Mascara
It’s a STEAL at about $5.99! I’ve tried about 100 different mascaras over the last 15 years and I always end up back with my original love. This product is a triple threat, in my opinion. You get mascara that will last the ENTIRE day, a brush that’s easy to use and lengthens lashes very well, and an affordable price point. Available at drug stores.
Ole Henriksen Anti-Aging Moisturizer
This moisturizer is a new addition to my beauty routine. I’ve been using it for about a month and I think I’m in love. I received a travel size in my October Ipsy bag and it changed my life! Ladies, if you sink your hard earned cash into any beauty product PLEASE spend it on your cleansers and moisturizers. You’re 70 year old future-self will thank you.
This moisturizer is so light and hydrating that it’s crazy! It’s almost completely weightless yet it still packs enough punch to make your skin baby soft. At about $55 for 1.7 ounces it’s a splurge that I’m willing to invest in. A tiny bit goes a long way so it’s worth it! Available at Sephora.
